After class was done for the day, Yukie returned home to the okiya, where she set up a CD player with the selection of music that accompanied the dance they had learned that day. Dancing was her passion, and perfecting that gei was her goal. She practiced the mai in the room she shared with Masako.

(I know but doesn't michaela need to, neither of us can get in thesites guts.)
As Masako neared the okiya, she heard the music and guessed what Yukie was doing. So instead of bothering her, knowing how perfectly she does the dances, Masako watches from the doorway, marveling at how good Yukia is and wondering if she will ever look at lovely as she dnaced

Yukie glanced up from her dance-induced reverie and saw Masako. "Oh! Masako-chan, I didn't see you there. Am I in your way?" Without waiting for an answer, she backed out of the way and paused the cd.

"Oh, please Yukie, you dance so beautifully, do not stop. I was learning by watching like we did as minarai. One never grows beyond learning, does one?"

"Come now, are you getting forgetful in your old age?" asked Yukie, knowing full well that Masako was one year YOUNGER than her. "We weren't minarai at the same time. In fact, I think I was just about to make my debut when you joined the okiya as a shikomi."
A blush came to her cheeks when she considered the other half of what Masako said. A compliment. Yukie still got shy when it came to compliments. Teruha, not so much. One expected a flood of compliments when dressed like a Kyoto doll. But as Yukie, in everyday life, she was still so shy!
"Have you started this piece yet in class? Maybe we could practice together. If I remember correctly, you still need to work on your timing when dancing with others."

"Teehee...oh Yukie as if you do not know. am I not the one sensei is correcting most of the class?” Masako tells her, with a cute grin on her face.

"I wouldn't want to be so direct as to be rude," Yukie gasped. She didn't want to discourage her roomie.
